Who We Are
People like doing business with people they know, like and trust.
Canoe Media Services was founded by journalists who love local businesses and entrepreneurs. We work hard to help companies boost the reach of their brand, likability and trustworthiness among customers (and potential customers).
Our passion is to work with you to find creative ways to promote your business by showcasing your expertise, winning over new customers and making your current customers more loyal.
Our approach is completely customizable. Our strategy starts with understanding your goals, needs and business, and we build from there. We promise we won't ever shoehorn your business into a pre-set package of services that doesn't meet your needs. Come collaborate with us!

Meet the Team
Beth is founder of Canoe Media Services and the company's primary success strategist. Additionally, she is publisher of Alexandria Living Magazine, launching in 2018.
After years working as a journalist and watching the media landscape change, she saw the need for small businesses to improve at telling their own stories. Beth founded Canoe Media Services to help entrepreneurs, small-but-growing businesses and non-profit organizations with digital marketing — the ultimate goal always being to help them be better known, loved (not just liked) and trusted.
Beth has worked for several online-only news publications and small businesses in editorial, marketing and business development roles, including the Lawrence Journal-World and KUSports.com, MKE in Milwaukee, The V.I. Source in the U.S. Virgin Islands and AOL's Patch.com. She also worked at the Newspaper Association of America, where she ran the Digital Edge Awards and blog, the Online Publishing Update and more. She graduated from Washington University (St. Louis) and Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism with a digital media storytelling focus, and would go back to either in a heartbeat.
Beth is originally from Connecticut, but has called Northern Virginia home since 2006. She lives in Alexandria, and she loves warm weather and the ocean, trying new restaurants, reading and consuming caffeine.
